about

One hour stunning journey of contemporary World Music improvisation recorded during the Shanghai Dutch Cultural Center’s Dance Exchange Performance, 12 dancers and 8 musicians from all around the world.

About this recording:
One such event took place in the Dutch Cultural Center in Shanghai on January 23rd 2010.
Project members were approached by avant-garde dance instructors from 2MoveDC, Netherlands, to assist in providing a musical canvas and inspiration for an international group of dancers during their two days experimental performance.

None of the participants knew what was going to happen, what course the performance would take, what emotions would be generated, and what moods and what energy would be created.

It was an inspirational event where the only prerequisite was not to dwell in the comfort zone of known tunes, moods, dance moves or behaviors… Above all however, full focus was to be placed on initiating and responding… action and reaction between all 20 participants. There were 8 musicians and 12 dancers participating in that night's event.

Music, movement and light interacted with one another taking spectators and participants on a one hour stunning journey.

Enclosed is the recording of the second day live performance in The Dutch Cultural Center Shanghai.
